Is JKD just a philosophy that you apply to any kind of martial art or is it an art all its own?

Type:  FAQs

JKD is an art in and of itself.  For the last 30 years, there has been an emphasis on the philosophical side of JKD, much of which has been, unfortunately, misinterpreted.  While the philosophy is an integral aspect of the art, it is only part of the equation.  Just go to Bruce Lee’s list of the roots of JKD, and you will see that number one at the top of the list is  “Physical Ingredients.”    Philosophy, in general, is a guide for how to best move through the physical world.  It is the same with JKD. The specific philosophies of which Bruce Lee spoke are to be applied to his specific physical techniques.  That is the art of Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do.
